What are the Different Craps Bets?

As we have already mentioned, craps is played best using only two bets: Pass line bet and Come bet. Nevertheless, if you want to learn more craps bets that can vary your play, at this page we describe most of them for you.

There are two basic types of craps bets: bets on a single roll and bets on a sequence of rolls. While pass line, come and a few other bets are sequence bets, most other bets in craps are single-roll bets.

Proposition Bets are single roll bets that can are placed on fixed groups of numbers. If one of the numbers included in the group comes out on the next roll, the bettor wins. Otherwise he loses. Possible proposition bets are: Any Craps the player is paid 7:1 if 2, 3 or 12 is rolled; Any Seven 5:1 payout on a number 7; Eleven (YO) 16:1 on number 11; Horn Bet functions as four separate bets on numbers 2, 3, 11 and 12. If one of these numbers is rolled, the player is paid according to the odds of this number, while three other bets are lost. The overall payouts of the Horn Bet are 7:1 on 2 or 12 and 3:1 on 3 or 11; Hi-Lo 30:1 payout on 2 and 12.

Field Bet is a single roll bet on numbers 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 and 12 at once. If 2 is rolled next, the player is paid 2:1, if the next number is 12, the payout is 3:1. If any of other numbers included in the field wins, the player is paid even money. Numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8 make the player lose.

Hardways are sequence bets. Placing a hardway bet, you bet that the number you choose will be rolled the hard way (combined of two equal dice such as 2 and 2 for hard 4, 3 and 3 for hard 6 and so on) before it is rolled the soft way and before 7. Hard 4 and 10 are paid 8:1. Hard 6 and 8 are paid 10:1.

Place Bets are similar to Pass line bet, but you choose the point number yourself. Possible place bets are 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10. If the number you bet on is rolled before 7, you win. Otherwise you lose. Payouts of Place bets are the following: 9:5 on 4 or 10, 7:5 on 5 or 9, 7:6 on 6 or 8.

Buy and Lay Bets are equal to Place bets, but are paid in true odds with 5% commission. Lay bets are opposite to Buy bets and make the player win when 7 is rolled before the laid number.
