Tree Makes Way For Casino Sign
The Coulee Dam Casino's efforts to resolve a sign conflict with town officials, may be just in time for a May 31 deadline set by the planning commission and council of Spokane.
Board members of the Town Historical and Natural Resources, met last Wednesday, announced that a tree located in a corner of the casino lot is on casino property, not town property, and that they would have no problem if the tree was cut down to make room for the pole that will hold the off-premises casino sign now located near a local restaurant.
Casino officials placed their off-premise sign on one of the town's advertising poles in the middle of town, but failed to receive the proper permit to do so.
The town gave the casino until April 25 to take the sign down, but a representative appeared before the planning commission, the members proposed an extension to May 31. The council approved, but the deadline would not be extended again said the council members.
So the casino will be tearing down a tree that is their property and will be placing a gigantic pole in the corner of their lot and flying a huge flag that will announce where the casino is located and how to get there, without confusion.
