“We’ve wanted ways to make things more fun for our readers and realized adding a few ‘brain busters’ is the perfect way to do that,” said Hugh Spain, ArcaMax Publishing Managing Editor. “They can be a bit challenging but I know our readers can do better than I can.”
The crossword puzzles are updated daily and give users the ability to quickly insert words while being timed. “You can also save a puzzle and come back later to finish it,” Spain said. Trivia covers topics from Sports to Entertainment and users score points for how quickly they answer. Hints are available in return for some previously earned points.
ArcaMax Publishing recently launched a re-design its news Web site that allows more of the newsletter, or “ezine,” content to be featured. Along with the trivia and crosswords, the front page features columns by Dear Abby, Dr. James Dobson (parenting advice), gardening tips and a readers’ poll.
The poll recently asked readers to vote on who won the presidential debates and who would win the MLB World Series. John Kerry and George Bush finished in a dead heat while the Red Sox were picked by a landslide to win it all. ArcaMax Publishing currently has over a million subscribers to its 25 newsletters that include cartoons Doonesbury and Garfield. Other daily newsletters include Vocabulary, History and Quotes, Trivia and Recipes.
