John Giles, the president of Alabamas Christian Coalition joined Alabama Attorney General Troy King in the fight against gambling in Alabama.
Giles first approached King last week, in a letter, where he mentioned the Christian Coalitions members growing disappointment in him, for not fighting against the gambling expansion in Alabama. King replied to Giles in a letter, saying that he feels the same about the need to fight against the gambling expansion in the state, and invited him to join forces together in fighting against it. They both agreed about the need of protesting against it, not in the communication media, but in the Legislature itself.
The plan is part of the Republican attorney campaigns for the 2006 election.
King mentioned in his letter his acts against the gambling occurring at the VictoryLand dog track in Macon County, Poarch Creek Indian gaming and the bingo games in White Hall. Giles claimed that even though King filed a court suit against the illegality of the bingo hall in White Hall, it stayed open. In his opinion, the bingo hall had to be shut immediately. While King believes that an act like this will be an unprofessional way of dealing with it, he prefers to wait to the courts decision, no matter how long it may take.
