Cook County authorities arrested a man who allegedly ran a gambling operation that accepted bets from high school students.
Timothy Quinlan, 23, of Oak Lawn was arrested for syndicated gambling. According to Cook County prosecutors, he was operating an illegal betting ring. He is suspected of occupying two students at Mt. Carmel High School on the South Side as runners. Some students racked up debts of over 10,000 dollars, mainly from basketball betting.
It is the second time within a week that Cook County authorities prosecute illegal gambling operation that works in local high school. Last week states attorneys accused Daniel Dalzell, 22, of taking bets from students at Marist High School and St. Rita High School in Chicago.
