The financial backers of the plan to build a casino near Gettysburg fight back against those who claim that such a move will dishonour the site's historical value and destroy it for good.
Chance Enterprises answers the protests against the plan to develop a casino near Gettysburg. The Civil War Preservation Trust opposed the location of the proposed casino, claiming it will damage the historical site.
Chance Enterprises, the investors of the Gettysburg casino proposal, claimed in a press release Tuesday that the Civil War Preservation Trust, which is a non-profit organization, is trying to create fear amongst their members in order to raise funds. Chance representative Barbara Ernico said the Trust is damaging a project that would benefit Adams County.
The Trust, in response, said Chance is hiding facts from the public in order to avoid public criticism. The Trust publicized Tuesday a list of the Civil War battlefields that are most in danger of extinction and mentioned Gettysburg battlefield in the list.
