Ireland Defeats Great Britain in Charity Heads-Up Poker Challenge on Saturday.

Karl Hutson won the Charity Heads-Up Poker Challenge, which took place on Saturday 8 July 2006 in the Fitzwilliam Card Club, Dublin. The poker tournament is the first in a series of heads-up tournaments organized by International Charity Heads Up Council events for the benefit of the Poker 4 Charity and OnePercentPledge charities.

Karl Hutson, who represented the Irish online poker room Paddy Power Poker beat James Dempsey who represented the British online poker room Blue Square in the Ireland Vs Great Britain Charity Heads-Up Poker Challenge. The event hand managed to raise about 2,000 sterling pounds that will benefit non-profit organizations. A return match will be held on 29 September in Newcastle, England.

In an interview after his winning, Karl Hutson spoke about his opponent, James Dempsey of Blue Square, and said that he should give up playing poker. He said that if he was the manager of the Paddy Power Poker team he would have sacked all the players, except for himself and the Pot limit Omaha Hi/Lo expert Marq O Neill.
