The Malaysia National Council on Problem Gambling is offering 150,000 US dollars fund, which are equal to 345,000RM, to volunteer groups that will come out with anti gambling projects. In addition to a new television series that displays the damages of gambling. These are part of actions taken by the National Council, getting ready to the openings of two casinos due to 2009.
The TV drama series contains 5 episodes, 30 minutes long each, describes every week another true story related to the risky side of gambling, including teenage gambling addicts, families separations because of gambling and more.
The 150,000 dollars fund is offered to any community group that will create an anti gambling program. The fund will fully cover some of the offered projects and fund 75 percent of most of them. Three groups had already applied for receiving the fund.
