Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. announced recently that it will continue to pursue the development of a casino resort in West Harrison County, Miss.
The firm has begun the preliminary approval process and has entered into a lease on a site located on the north side of the Bay of St. Louis, which was previously approved by the Mississippi Gaming Commission in connection with another proposed development.
The president and chief operating officer of Isle of Capri Casinos, said in a statement, that while the project is still in the early planning stages, they are extremely excited about this plans potential. This casino resort would be a first class development for the people of this area.
The project is still in the preliminary planning stages and is subject to certain conditions, including receiving licenses, approvals and permits, and so still has a very long way to go before even breaking ground.
Isle of Capri first announced its plans to relocate from its headquarters in Biloxi, Miss., to Creve Coeur, Mo. in late 2005. The company sustained damage to five facilities and its Biloxi headquarters from hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma.
Isle of Capri Casinos Inc., a developer and owner of gaming and entertainment facilities, operates 15 casinos in 13 locations.
In January 2006, Isle of Capri Casino decided to relocate about 150 corporate positions at an estimated cost of about 8 million. The relocation process should begin early this summer. The Regional Chamber and Growth Associations estimate that the move will generate a total economic impact of 36.8 million per year for the region.
