Goa, the beach town resort in India, was the location for the first ever poker tournament to held in India. The competition, the Asian Poker Classic, began on the First of march and the finals were held on the Fifth of March at the Intercontinental Grand Resort in Goa.
Pranav Bathija resides in Mumbai (what was formerly called Bombay) and is a new fan of poker. He began to play poker online at Maharajah Club.net, an online casino that focuses on South East Asia. It took Pranav less than four months of online playing to be ready for taking the next step in his poker career.
He enrolled in the APC 2007, and matched his cards and wits with poker pros from around the world. Pranav was decidedly good as he beat more than a hundred and forty other poker competitors, and only succumbed to the person who came first: Carl Hostrup from Denmark. The runner-up was also a relatively unknown poker player from Sweden, Samual Lehtonen.
By coming third, Pranav Bathija got to go home with a large portion of the meager amount of $1,000,000 that comes to the grand total of 44,490,085 Rupees! When interviewed later, Pranav said he was proud because he not only proved that he could make it professionally, but also because he proved that Indians can do well in this competitive sport too.
