If you are planning on going to a casino in British Columbia, you may want to re think your plans. 4 of the areas casinos are facing the strong possibility of a strike. Talks between the casino company and the British Columbia Government and Service Employees Union have been going almost around the clock in an attempt to pound out a deal and avoid the strike.
The casino workers have already had a vote on the strike issue and voted to strike by more then 86 percent of the vote. According to the Union Representative even though a vote passed to strike no date has been set for the strike to begin and that hopefully the issue could be solved at the negotiation tables rather then over a picket line.
A mediator is expected to be brought in by the Montana Canadian Labor Relations Board
latter this week to try to help the talks move in the right direction.
The last plan the casinos brought to the union was in March and was voted down by more then a 3 to 1 vote.
If the union goes on strike the casinos will come to a complete halt. The union includes the workers from every branch of the casinos such as dealers, the slot attendants, cashiers, food and drink servers and even the casinos security force.
The 4 Lake City Casinos are theme casinos. One is designed to look like New Orleans, one is made to look like Santa Fe, one is a Caribbean cruise and the fourth is a Caribbean Beachfront.
