Trump Heads New Casino in Mississippi
Donald Trumps casino company plus a Mississippi company announced this week that they intend a joint venture together to build a new gambling resort on land recently chosen for casinos in Diamondhead, Miss.
Owned by a subsidiary of Diamondhead Casino Corp., the idea is to build on close to 40 acres of the 404 acre tract just recently zoned for casinos.
The A change came in the states legislation after the Mississippis casino industry was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. Once only allowing riverboat casinos to operate in Mississippi, casinos can now be built on land within 800 feet of certain bodies of water under a new law signed in October by Mississippi State Gov. Haley Barbour.
The allocated land is located for two miles along Interstate Highway 10 and also for two miles along the Bay of St. Louis, the companies said.
The place for the development has not been determined as of yet, said a high ranking chairman and decision maker of Diamondhead Casino Corp.
They want to place this casino so that it maximizes the gross revenues available in the area plus for the ease of the local gamblers and travelers alike said the official.
Another official from the Trump Entertainment Resorts Inc. of Atlantic City stated how they are excited about the outlook of bringing the Trump brand to the Gulf Coast area, and are hoping to join private and public companies and organizations in redeveloping the ravaged state.
Trump Entertainment operates three casino hotels in Atlantic City and abroad. Donald Trump is the chairman and largest stockholder of all.
