Vegas Pros Bet on the Edgewater
Owners of the revenue-losing Edgewater Casino at the Plaza of Nations in Nevada aren't saying why they are selling their relatively new facility to a Las Vegas gambling company.
Jackson, who owns half the casino, said an agreement with the Paragon Gaming of Las Vegas prevents him from discussing the sale. Last week he told the Courier he and Libin, Jacksons partner, would likely continue to operate the casino beyond its four-year lease, which will expire in February 2009.
In a press release issued by Pricewaterhouse Coopers Inc., which states that a transaction is expected to be final in the summer, is contradicted by this comment made by Jackson. The owners have cited problems with parking, lack of a liquor license advertising and competition from suburban casinos, namely the River Rock Casino in Richmond.
