Playing Texas Holdem
Texas Holdem is a great game played in casinos,online casinos and poker rooms or anyplace where you will find poker being played.
The game is started with each player receiving 2 cards face down from the dealer. These cards are called your hole cards and are the only cards that allow you to make a different hand from the other players. Each player after looking at their 2 cards has the chance to bet or fold.
The dealer will then deal 5 cards face down in the center of the poker table. These 5 cards are communal cards and can be used by everyone to make the best possible poker hand.
The dealer will now turn over 3 of the 5 cards on the table. These first 3 cards are called the flop. With these 3 cards plus the 2 cards in your hand you now have a complete poker hand. At this point you can bet or fold, but remember there are still 2 more cards to turn over. This is when most people will fold. If at this point you have nothing there is a good chance the last 2 cards will not help you.
The next card is called the turn card. At this point each player has 6 cards available to make the best 5 card hand they can. Again as in every round you have the option to call raise or fold your hand.
The last of the 5 cards to be turned over in Texas Holdem is called the River. After this card is dealt there is one more chance to call, raise or fold
At this point players will show their hands and a winner will be declared.
