What is Baccarat?
Baccarat is one of the most sophisticated casino games. Land based casinos usually dedicate a separate area for playing Baccarat, hidden behind a velvet curtain. Here you can find basic information about baccarat and learn how to play the game.
How to Play:
Between 12 and 14 players can participate in a baccarat game and it includes 3 dealers. There are two basic types of bets in baccarat, banker or player, banco or punto. Baccarat is also known as Punto Banco. Every player can choose between betting on either banco or punto. Usually the dealer places a bet on banco. The players can also choose not to play and to move the shoe to the next player. The same player keeps the shoe until banco wins, but if punto wins the shoes moves on to the next player.
The dealer deals to each player two hands, which he has to bet on a winning hand or on a tie. When a bet on the bank wins, the player has to distract 5 percent of his winning as casino taxes.
Each baccarat hand has between two and three cards. The dealer places two unrevealed cards under the shoe. The player who placed the biggest bet on punto will receive the other two cards, also unrevealed. After he takes a look at the cards, he gives them back to the dealer, who will expose both hands. At this point, the casino dealer announces the winner.
If one of the hands sums up to 8 or nine, no third card will be dealt. This case is called natural. If the hands value is lower than 8, the casino dealer may advise the game dealer to deal another card, depends on the hand total. When the dealing is done, the hand with the highest total wins.
