What is Red Dog Poker?

Red Dog poker is actually a combination between chance card games and poker. Although the game is played using the same hand rankings as in poker, but this game is based more on chance than on skill and playing this variation of poker is a great break from regular stud poker games.

History:

During the mid 1980s, Red Dog began to appear in the Las Vegas casino scene. The game is sometimes know as Yablon, or Ace-Deuce, and Between the Sheets. In the casinos, Red Dog is played on tables that are similar to Black Jack tables, using six decks of cards in the shoe. Up to 16 different players can play in the game at one time and has one dealer.

Rules:

Let's go over the basic rules of the casino game of Red Dog poker:
  1. The game starts when a player places a bet and the dealer then deals two cards face up on the table.
  2. If both of the cards are equal, then a third is dealt. If the cards are neither consecutive or equal, then the dealer declares the spread, which means the number of card values between the cards that were dealt.
  3. After the player has decided whether to raise or not, the dealer deals a third card after deciding to bet. If the card is equal or outside the two cards, the player loses is bet. If the card is between the two cards the player wins.
It's that Simple!
Depending on the gap needed to hit between the two cards will raise or lower the odds paid on the wager.

  • 4-11 card spread 1:1
  • 3 card spread 2:1
  • 2 card spread 4:1
